The Offset Shelf by Resident takes a storage space suited to everyday utility, making it a tactile, artistic statement. An inspired and open design by Philippe Malouin, each shelf is made in Lithuania from FSC-certified solid oak, and its heavy-duty silhouette highlights the wood’s natural beauty. Each shelf connects to columnar legs via an off-center threaded mechanism, allowing you to adjust the feet and bracing for a personalized, dynamic look. This mix of customizable design and robust craftsmanship strikes the perfect balance between rustic character and contemporary flair.
Clean lines, minimal materials and simple forms belie the amount of work that goes into creating objects that appear so uncomplicated. There is an art to such balance, and Resident's stable of solely New Zealand designers ("people we know and whose work we admire") are invested in a number of disciplines. Artists, architects and, yes, designers, employ a multitude of mediums in the creation of the studio's exquisitely engineered craftwork, from glass to carbon fiber, metals to ceramics.
